The Scholarly Committee is responsible for selecting, classifying, and organising the
events proposed by the cultural, educational, touristic, and economic personnel in the
circumscription.
The members of the Scholarly Committee are experienced art professionals specialised
in diverse areas such as painting, contemporary art, theatre, creative writing, and music.
They contribute to the Festival’s rich diversity. They are responsible for seeking and helping
invigorate the events that could be included in the Festival, selecting, coordinating, and
classifying them. Their activity and presence constitute a guarantee of the high artistic
quality of the Festival.
Jérôme Clément, President of the Scholarly Committee
Jérôme Clément is President of Arte France, Administrator of the Orchestra of Paris and of
the Théâtre national du Châtelet, author of several works, including La culture expliquée
à ma fille (Culture Explained to My Daughter) and Plus tard tu comprendras (Later You will
Understand). He has also directed the Centre National de Cinématographie.
Jacques-Sylvain Klein, Vice-President of the Scholarly Committee and General Commissioner of the Festival
Economist and art historian, Jacques-Sylvain Klein is the author of La Normandie, berceau
de l’Impressionnisme (Normandy, Cradle of Impressionism); La Maison Sublime, l’école
rabbinique et le royaume juif de Rouen (The Sublime Abode: The Rabbinic School and
Jewish Kingdom of Rouen), and L’effervescence rouennaise au siècle naissant (Rouennais
Effervescence at the Turn of the Century). He oversees the organization of the Festival
assisted by a team directed by Annick Bouillot, Project Head.

Specialised Commissions
Three commissions presided by Scholarly Committee members have been established. They are responsible for bringing together local personnel and helping them put together their projects:
