With the support of the local governments, especially the Regions of Upper and Lower Normandy and the counties of Sein-e-Maritime and Eure, the students of the Academies of Rouen and Caen will be directly involved in the Impressionist Normandy Festival. With teams of teachers, they will both explore the multiple cultural events that will take place in Normandy, and they will also contribute to this great Impressionism festival.
From nursery school to university, all children, students and apprentices, with their teachers, extra-curricular associations, local governments, and cultural organisations, will be able to “observe, listen, imagine, create, communicate and learn.”
The authorities in the National Education system will have complete freedom in educational initiatives within the theme of the Impressionist Normandy Festival; the cultural action academic delegates are in charge of coordination and coherence.
In addition to painting, other cultural and educational means of expression will be handled, such as multimedia creations, dance, theatre, music.
The educational programme is conceived within the framework of the academic year, and already at the beginning of school in September 2009; students will be able to initiate their projects so their work can be recognised in June 2010.
Art History : The National Education programmes include establishing art history instruction for all levels. Certain class levels, such as third form and lower sixth form, are undoubtedly better adapted to the study of all facets of “Norman Impressionism.”
Local Creative Projects : Classes and institutions may take the initiative in educational creativity. Impressionist Normandy will draw attention to work that is accomplished, facilitate communication in order to create class and institutional networks around the Norman roots of Impressionism. Impressionist Normandy websites of local educational authorities and rectors will constitute a special means of exchange and communication between Norman students. Multimedia supports, such as blogs, films, and slide shows, will help students gain recognition for their work for the B2i, the computer science and internet certificate which is part of the requirements for completing junior high school.
Certain local authorities, such as the Upper Normandy Region, will issue a call to high schools, Educational and Apprenticeship Centres (CFA), and associations for projects coupled with proposals for taking action.
Organisation of visits with museum educational services and cultural structures : through the intermediary of museum educational services, establishments will be able to take advantage of visits organised specifically for them.
