Adrien LUCCA
Adrien Lucca, a multidisciplinary artist, has been blending science and art since 2009 to explore color, light, and perception. His work explores the relationship between the physical world and our sensory experience of it. His studio practice focuses on creating and installing artworks, often monumental, grounded in the use of both traditional and contemporary techniques. A specialist in pigment color, glass, and LED light, his studio merges chemistry, physics, and other tools and software, making him a champion of the intersectionality of art and science.
Working primarily with paint, glass, and light, Lucca creates aesthetic and intellectual experiences that challenge common sense. They invite contemplation, slowness, curiosity, and meditation. By appropriating scientific and technological resources as well as traditional techniques, in a practice situated somewhere between scientific analysis, visual art, and artisanal know-how, he seeks forms of complicity with the physical world and its laws. Lucca believes that science and technology can be used to highlight the beauty, complexity, and strangeness of the physical world, in stark contrast to a science that normalizes and technicizes our environment and to an artistic practice that merely aestheticizes technique without truly embracing it.
