Cécile MEYNIER

Cécile Meynier practices sculpture with a specialization in ceramics, which she incorporates into installations and activates through performances. She addresses fundamental questions related to our relationship with everyday objects, the origin of the creative act, the status of the artwork, and its tradition, which she playfully subverts and demystifies. The issues of utility and the use of the artwork are explored, including the body and gesture, as well as a certain orality in her practice, as if driven by a need to break with the silence of sculpture. This performative aspect allows her to inhabit her work and shift it from the formal to the living. Her aesthetic thus oscillates between minimalism and baroque, between brutality and ornamentation, between the ordinary and the extraordinary, between humor and darkness, for it is in these interstices that the strangeness and improbability of art, so dear to her, emerge. 

For Rouen Impressionnée, it will occupy a shop window in the Saint-Sever shopping centre near the library.
