In the direction of BARGE Collective

Founded in 2014, the association was born from a dream shared by artists and architects: to build a navigable vessel, "BARGE," which would serve both as a mobile artist residency on the Seine and as a dockside exhibition space. Transcending administrative boundaries, the artistic projects developed aim to foster social and cultural connections along the waterway. The movement of ideas is facilitated by the mobility of the residencies and the resulting exhibitions, between the Île-de-France region and Normandy. Alongside the BARGE project, Dans le Sens de Barge develops its programming with partners along the river – museums, art centers, and educational institutions – thus acting as artistic intermediaries within the framework of the economic development of the Seine corridor. In collaboration with numerous local authorities, institutions, businesses, and higher education establishments, the association explores the valley in its continuities: its ecosystem, its history, and its culture.
