Nathalie ELEMENTO
Nathalie Elemento's work reflects on the notion of "interior furnishings": the objects that inhabit our lives, the mental positions we adopt, and the factors that determine our capacity or incapacity for adaptation. All her concerns relate to a three-dimensional approach, but one situated in the "in-between." The artist has explored the personal (psychological and physical) constructions and arrangements that we all create in order to live and survive.
“My sculptures,” writes Nathalie Elemento, “continue to explore the intimate space linked to objects, furniture, and architecture—the space present in our interiors—while questioning the fundamental nature of painting. It is about proposing a representation of these objects by expressing a possible repositioning. A continuation of the questioning of forms and deformations.”
While his research remains closely linked to language, it is the development of "the notion of sculpture for use" that is emerging. It is a work that raises the possibilities of "living with," which concerns and underscores the possibility of living differently.
