Rachel LABASTIE

Rachel LABASTIE

Rachel Labastie works with clay, porcelain, marble, terracotta, tapestry, and glass to give form to projects where the notion of "social body" is often explored, confronted with that of "individual trajectory".

Through her diverse materials, Rachel Labastie explores the visible and invisible connections between things and between people. Her delicate and humanist work is expressed in a constant interplay of opposing forces, inviting us to see beyond appearances and break free from our own limitations.

The link is also language. For Rouen Impressionnée, she is therefore interested in SIGNS. To communicate, people use signs. Unable to concretely transmit reality to other people, they invented, slowly and by trial and error, substitutes that represented it.

Ideally, the artwork produced for this occasion could enrich the collections of the Ceramics Museum…
