Tanja Smeets
Tanja Smeets is a visual artist who lives and works in Utrecht, the Netherlands. She graduated in Fine Arts from the ArtEZ Institute of Arts in Arnhem.
Her work has been featured in numerous museums and galleries, including Manifesta 15 Barcelona, Kunsthal Kade Amersfoort, Stedelijk Museum Schiedam (Netherlands), HEM Zaandam (Netherlands), Princessehof Museum Leeuwarden (Netherlands), Vizcaya Museum Miami (USA), Henan Museum Zhengzhou (China), Textile Museum Tilburg (Netherlands), Centraal Museum Utrecht (Netherlands), Boijmans van Beuningen Museum Rotterdam (Netherlands), Gyeonggi International Ceramics Biennial in Icheon (South Korea) and the Museum of Arts and Design New York (USA).
She has created commissioned works for public spaces in several cities in the Netherlands. Smeets has participated in numerous artist residencies in the Netherlands, China, and South Korea. She has worked on several occasions at the European Ceramics Centre in the Netherlands. Her works are included in the permanent collections of the Henan Museum (China), the Textile Museum, the Centraal Museum, and the Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, and in various commissions, including installations for Radboud University Medical Center, the KF Hein Foundation, DSM, Enexis, and DIFFER (the Netherlands Institute for Basic Energy Research).
