Symposium / Conference

Conference "How can someone become a modern painter during the 19th century (or not)?"

Félix Buhot, between romantism and modernity

11.21

Print
The work of Félix Buhot (Valognes, 1847 - Paris, 1898) who was a painter and a engraver revealed the passing from Romantism to modernity. The purpose of the conference will be to show the struggle with Institutions so that the subjects of a 19th-century painter could go from "la belle nature" (beautiful nature) to natural landscap, from ideal portrait to a "figure habillée en plein soleil" (dressed figure in full sunlight) or to "des femmes bleues et jaunes" (blue and yellow women).
