Jacques Perconte

For a little over twenty-five years, Jacques Perconte has been developing an audiovisual and cinematographic body of work where environment and landscape are the vehicles of an aesthetic that revolutionizes vision as much as the technologies it employs.

His work navigates between cinemas, exhibition spaces, and the stage. His works, even though they take various forms (linear film, generative film, audiovisual performance, print, installation), are the result of continuous experimental research.

From Normandy to the peaks of the Alps, from the depths of Scotland to the Dutch polders, Jacques Perconte passionately travels and films the elements. For him, technology is an environment that must challenge our presumed separation from nature.

In 2014-15, the Cinémathèque Française dedicated its avant-garde film series to him under the title "Suns." In 2012, Léos Carax invited him to participate in his film Holy Motors. In 2019, Jean-Luc Godard used an excerpt from his film "After the Fire" in "The Image Book.".

In 2022, he presented a monumental video work for six months during the French Presidency of the European Union at the Council of Europe in Brussels. In 2023, Le Lieu Unique in Nantes dedicated a thousand square meters to his work for a major solo exhibition. In 2024, he unveiled new monumental installations at Le Générateur in Gentilly, and then at Noirlac Abbey, where his project continued in 2024–2025.
