Mika Ninagawa

Born in Tokyo in 1972, Mika Ninagawa is a multidisciplinary artist: she excels in photography and also creates numerous films, videos, and installations. Since 2023, she has been a member of the art collective EiM (Eternity in a Moment).

From the outset, she won the most prestigious awards in Japanese photography. Winning the Ihei Kimura Prize at the age of 28 definitively established her reputation. In 2010, she published a book of photographs with Rizzoli New York. In Japan, her solo exhibitions are regularly presented in major institutions such as the Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum, TOKYO NODE, and the Kyocera Art Museum in Kyoto. Internationally, her work has been exhibited at venues including the Museum of Contemporary Art in Taipei, the Beijing Times Art Museum, and the Palazzo Bollani in Venice. In France, her Florae project, created for Van Cleef & Arpels, was presented in 2021.

As a director, she has made five feature films, including Helter Skelter in 2012, which received the Shindô Kaneto Award.
