Normandie Impressionniste 2024: a foretaste during the 6th encounters of the Seine Axis.

During this edition of the encounters of the Seine Axis, a foretaste of the 5th edition of the Normandie Impressionniste Festival was given by Philippe Platel. This was an opportunity to bring back to mind the major event constituted by the 150th anniversary of the impressionist movement in 2024. The presentation focused on new ambitions bringing together several predefined themes: a festival which would be responsible, digital, international and multidisciplinary in its programming.

These encounters of the Seine Axis, which aimed at strengthening the bonds between the local authorities along the Seine and promoting shared initiatives, lie at the heart of our project with a strong historic tie thanks to culture, the economy and heritage. Our programme is centred on a “seine axis” pathway which is central to the festival’s approach. This allowed us to obtain a great mobilisation of economic players.

The 150th anniversary of the impressionist movement in 2024 provides a unique opportunity to celebrate this emblematic art movement and highlight the lasting influence that it has had on the history of art in Normandy. It is expected that this event will attract international attention and strengthen even more the renown of the Seine as a destination, given that it is the birthplace of Impressionism.

In conclusion, the 6th encounters of the Seine Axis showed up the importance of Normandie Impressionniste to the touristic and economic appeal of the Normandy region and the Seine Axis. The announcement of the 5th edition of the festival and of the 150th anniversary of the impressionist movement in 2024 promises a memorable artistic celebration and the opportunity to highlight the region’s rich cultural heritage.
