Embark on a family journey to discover Impressionism between Le Havre and Honfleur, and follow in the footsteps of the artists in these two cities so important to the movement. Explore the events of the Normandy Impressionist Festival, echoing the artistic movement that changed the course of art history. A work composed of 650,000 LEGO® pieces, a fog installation in the Jardin des Personnalités (Garden of Personalities), and two concert offerings are just a few examples of what awaits you on this trip!
Stage 1
Le Havre is where Monet painted Impression, Sunrise, the celebrated work that gave its name to the Impressionist movement. Please step inside the André Malraux Museum of Modern Art (MuMa), home to the second largest collection of Impressionist works in France.
At MuMa, discover Ai Weiwei – Water Liliesby Ai Weiwei, a monumental work composed of 650,000 LEGO® pieces, in direct resonance with Monet’s famous Water Lilies series.
Poursuivez avec les ateliers de création proposés dans le cadre du projet Carton pixel — Impression XL et contribuez à l’élaboration d’une œuvre collective à grande échelle faisant écho à celle d’Ai Weiwei.
Le MuMa accueille également la 25e édition des Rencontres d’été théâtre & lecture en Normandie, un temps fort mêlant performance, lecture et création contemporaine dans un dialogue avec les esthétiques impressionnistes.
Stage 2
Dirigez-vous vers Honfleur, ville natale d’Eugène Boudin, précurseur de l’impressionnisme. Au Musée Eugène-Boudin, vous pouvez découvrir une exposition Soleil rose, orange, rouge de Julien des Monstiers.
Then, continue your journey to the Garden of Personalities, where you can immerse yourself inFujiko Nakaya's fog installation. This work, whose water main material is water, is in constant transformation, like the light that Monet tried to capture in his paintings.
In Honfleur, you can also discover the Route de l'Hydrogene project led by H2NC. This project brings together the worlds of François Dufeil and Fujiko Nakaya, forging a link between contemporary creation and the challenges of the energy transition in Normandy.
Stage 3
Near Honfleur, you can enjoy a musical break by attending one of the two vents that are on offer: Musiques sur l'eau, on July 23 in Quetteville, or Le Concert Impromptu – Monet en musique, on July 28 in Cormeilles.
