This itinerary invites you to spend a weekend as a couple in the Eure. With numerous remarkable views over the Seine Valley, the Eure is an agricultural region that surprises with its natural, historical, and cultural treasures. It is also the department that is home to Claude Monet's house and gardens. Explore Les Andelys, Vernon, and Giverny, and take part in the events of the Normandy Impressionist Festival.


Start in Le Havre, the place where Monet painted Impression, Sunrise, the iconic work that gave its name to the movement.

Push open the door of the André Malraux Museum of Modern Art (MuMa), which houses the second largest collection of Impressionist works in France, after the Musée d'Orsay in Paris. 

As part of the Normandy Impressionist Festival, discover the exhibition of around one hundred works by Monet dedicated to his formative years in Le Havre.

From Le Havre, head to Les Andelys, a village offering magnificent views of the Seine Valley, which you can admire from the Château de Gaillard, the iconic fortress of Richard the Lionheart. Don't miss Petit-Andely, a charming district filled with restaurants, souvenir shops, and art galleries.

Next, head towards Vernon, just 25 minutes from Les Andelys. Stroll through this charming little town and discover its heritage gems: the Archives Tower, a remnant of Philippe Auguste's fortified castle, its old mill and other historical sites.

It is also an opportunity to visit the Blanche-Hoschedé-Monet museum to see the Lionel Sabatté – Mémoire de limon exhibition, a tribute to Claude Monet.

In addition, in Vernon, on May 31st, you can attend a daytime pyrotechnic show by Cai Guo-Qiang, inspired by Impressionism.


Reach Giverny by bus, bicycle, or on foot to explore this iconic Impressionist location, where Claude Monet lived for the last forty years of his life. Visit Claude Monet's house and explore the gardens, where you can admire the famous water lilies, Japanese bridges, and flowerbeds that inspired his great series of paintings.

Then explore the city to reach the Museum of Impressionisms. As part of the Normandy Impressionist Festival, you can discover the exhibition Plantations, in situ works, 2026 by Daniel Buren, a new creation in dialogue with the garden and the museum's collections.
