This suggested route invites you to discover the Seine Valley by bike. From Le Havre to Giverny, along the way, discover charming rural landscapes and picturesque villages, while enjoying the events of the Normandy Impressionist Festival.  


Begin your journey in Le Havre, the city where Monet painted Impression, Sunrise, the iconic work that gave its name to the Impressionist movement. Head to Le Portique, a regional contemporary art center, to discover an exhibition of The Story of Fixity by Noémie Goudal, an artist whose creations redefine the notion of landscape in our contemporary society.

Step inside the André Malraux Museum of Modern Art (MuMa), home to the second largest collection of Impressionist works in France, after the Musée d'Orsay in Paris. As part of the Normandy Impressionist Festival, discover an exhibition of around one hundred works by Monet dedicated to his formative years in Le Havre.

At MuMa, you can discover Water Lilies by Ai Weiwei, the work composed of 650,000 LEGO® pieces which echoes Monet's famous series, Water Lilies.  


Train: 88 km + Bicycle: 13 km

From Le Havre, take a train to Rouen. Stroll through the city, a source of inspiration for many Impressionists, and discover the festival program on site with the Rouen Urban Trail.

By following the Seine by bike route, you can reach Saint-Martin-de-Boscherville in just 13 km to discover the exhibition Aller et venir de lumière by Ange Leccia.

Cycling: 50.8 km

Follow the Seine and head to Les Andelys. The village of Les Andelys offers a magnificent panorama of the Seine valley, which you can admire from Château-Gaillard, the iconic fortress of Richard the Lionheart.

Don't miss a visit to Petit-Andely, a charming area filled with restaurants, souvenir shops and art galleries.

Cycling: 30 km

 Cycle to Giverny to explore this iconic Impressionist location. Visit Claude Monet's house and explore the gardens, where you can admire the famous water lilies, Japanese bridges, and flowerbeds that inspired his great series of paintings.

Finish your visit at the Museum of Impressionisms, where you can discover the Plantations exhibition, in situ works by Daniel Buren, an original creation in dialogue with the garden and the museum's collections.
